You might receive a message like "Web page not available while offline" when connecting to internet using Virtual machine. This does happen even if your host machine is properly able to access internet without error, the reason behind the error is when you have not selected Shared Network in network setting of Virtual machine. The browser also gives you the option Connect, it doesn't connect to internet and that action may stop responding.
Here is how, you can change the network setting to get the glitch resolve.
Click on start and type "Windows Virtual PC" on search box, click on windows virtual pc from the list.
Now from the virtual pc list, select the operating system of which you want to configure the network setting, you should not click but just select the item and hit Setting
Now from the left pane of the window click on Networking and at right pane you will see list of 4 adapter(used for network connection). From the list, say Adapter 1, use the drop down and select Shared Network(NAT)
This should get you up and running.
Note: When you doing this configuration your guest operating system or your virtual pc should be closed.
