Blogger as a blogging platform is pretty mature. It's been compared side by side with the likes of WordPress and Tumblr. But one common grievance among Blogger users is about the mobile app. Let's have a quick review.
The updated app has a view quite similar to the WordPress app as far as the home screen is concerned. As soon as you login to the app you see a list containing all your published posts along with all your drafts. This here itself gets a +1 from me because I just couldn't find a way to check out my drafts on the WordPress app without going to the full html version of the admin page.
The post publishing page although self sufficient leaves a lot of scope for improvement. The post title, tags and location are added on one page. However, you are introduced to a new page when typing out the post content, while you are again returned to the post title page to add photos. Weird.
Among the various disadvantages I found are
-absolutely negligible formatting options. Only bold and italics, no lists too!
-no comment moderation section
-no stats view available
-many users have reported failure in publishing post ie. server errors
Well to conclude the app is heading in the right direction. Although it is sufficient enough for small and quick posts, I'd head over to the Web version for my normal publishing.
Well just to dispel rumours, yes, I am publishing this post from my Blogger android app!
