Microsoft gets more secure by enabling two step verification on all account

Microsoft on Wednesday announced two step verification process and will be releasing this update in all Microsoft account in few days. The two step verification process is optional but its definitely a move in right direction especially given the recent slew of hacking incidents.

"This is just like providing two pieces of information to access your account, like your password and a code sent to your phone or email address on file as security info."

Two step verification process was enabled for certain critical activities like editing credit cards, subscription at commerce.microsoft.com and xbox.com or accessing files on another one of your computers through SkyDrive.com.

This is great way to add extra protection to your account. Once you have enabled two step verification process, even if a criminal gets your password (through malware on friends machine that you used, or if you used the same password on another service that gets breached) they cannot access your account.

For a smartphone user, there is an Authenticator app which lets you get the verification code even while you are offline.
Use this link http://account.live.com/proofs/manage  to see if they have rolled up the feature to your account or not, if yes, it's better to setup them so to avoid  problem to your account later.
